I have been thinking that some of the knee issues I have (and this new ankle pain right on the calcaneofibular ligament) are probably tied to bad form.
After extensive internet research (hah!), I learned that - holy crap - I have really bad form.
I found this website and really like it. I'm going to try some of their techniques today!
Check out some of the literature on the forefoot instead on midfoot strike. I find it more comfortable and less shock-inducing, and Born To Run is definitely going to push for the forefoot strike. I the transition from midfoot to forefoot strike happens naturally after a while.
ReplyDeleteSubject for a post: what shoes are you guys running with? Are you rotating pairs? I ask because my footwear caused *serious* injury when I was training for my first marathon. You need to make sure you get really proper running shoes (I took a very resistant Boz to get her first pair a while ago) and they should be replaced every 5 months or so when training for a marathon. Born to Run disagrees, but I think their thesis is a bunch of malarky. I can feel it in my knees when I need new shoes.
I vote Aubrey posts a photo of her deformed, yet sexy feet to prove this thesis malarky!
