Day 25 (Twilight)

Rest day...and oh how I need it. My back is at it again. :( I'm not quite a cripple yet, but I'm having lower back pain reminiscent of that time I was doubled over in DC for two weeks. I REALLY hope this goes away soon. Ox thinks it might be a byproduct of the shoes I'm wearing and is trying to get me into some vibrams...I think it might be my weak core again. Last time I went to a doctor about this, he told me to drop 10lbs and to start working on my core so it could support my back since my sciatica injury made me more prone to getting hurt and a recurrence of this kind of pain. Know what I think REALLY? F**k AGING. ;)

BTW, Fox, did you finish reading "Born to Run"?

  1. Man - aren't we a trip?!?! Your back, sciatic injury, aging... My knee, ankle, knee (#2; just started really acting up today), aging.

Are we just trading up for new injuries and revisiting the old? That's lame...

I DID finish the book. Ages ago, actually (like, um, within a few days of receiving it).

I liked it. I loved the story. The science... Eh, we should talk about it :)

  2. You know ox had the same observation...He said the longer we were at this, the more our bodies would reveal our hidden weaknesses (over which we will hopefully triumph!). I have to admit it has made me seriously reconsider my aversion to all things exercise. I don't want to be a cripple in my 50s...:(

Although, maybe it's just revisiting personal diaries inscribed on our skin and bones? Hey, I'm just glad mine doesn't have melanoma in it...yet.

  3. True story: My exercise aversion was well known in Florida when I was doing my Master's. People would invite me to do Tae Bo with them or run and I was always like, "Um, no."

Then, one day a friend and I went to TJ Maxx. We were in our respective dressing rooms, and she asked if I wanted to do pilates. My response, "Oh, I love exercise I can do laying down" (referencing, of course, my aversion to exercise).

The woman in the next dressing room over started snickering.

Ooops... That's NOT what I meant...
