Day 22 (Twilight)

Today is my long run (7 miles) and of course the weather blows. From this week onward, I will be breaking personal records in terms of the longest distances I've ever run...which is honestly f***ing daunting. :(

To cheer myself up, I thought about posting on the Hash House Harriers since Fox is stuck in foreign lands and needs running buddies. Who are the HHH (pic above depicts a hashers' race)? According to wikipedia, they are a non-competitive running and drinking club with the tagline, "drinkers with a running problem" or something to that effect. Crazily, there are 1,700 chapters worldwide spanning all seven continents! I was actually thinking of joining them while I was living in Bahrain (seemed a cheeky bunch), but decided against it after going for a trial run and realizing you REALLY can't run in Manama during the summer. Every breath I took quite literally cooked my lungs...I took to drinking instead. ;)

The Constitution of the Hash House Harriers:

  • To promote physical fitness among our members
  • To get rid of weekend hangovers
  • To acquire a good thirst and to satisfy it in beer
  • To persuade the older members that they are not as old as they feel

  1. It IS daunting, isn't it??? Every week will be a personal best for me too! It scares the pants off me!

The good news is that we are still 20 weeks away from the marathon. The bad news is that we are still 20 weeks away from the marathon. :)

I looked at the training schedule for a month or two from now, and I think "there's NO WAY I can do this." But bit by bit, it'll come together, right?
